There are some weddings that just feel like home, and Lucy and Ben’s summer wedding in the quaint village of Adlestrop was exactly that—a day filled with joy, laughter, and the warmth of close-knit family and friends.
Bridal Elegance in the Countryside
Lucy’s bridal look was the epitome of elegance, with just the right amount of sparkle on her straps to add a touch of glamour. Her makeup and hair, expertly done by Ruby Peacock Bridal, perfectly complemented her style. The flowers, created by The Stow Flower Shop, featured pastel tones that somehow managed to pop against the Cotswold backdrop. The arrangements were gentle and relaxed, blending seamlessly into the countryside setting.
A Ceremony Full of Heart
Set in the picturesque Cotswold village of Adlestrop, Lucy and Ben’s ceremony was held in a charming church that just about fit all their loved ones inside. The intimate space added to the sense of closeness and love that surrounded the day. Ben’s dad had the honor of officiating the service, making it even more personal and meaningful. When the couple emerged from the church, they were greeted with a traditional guard of honor, followed by a flurry of rose petal confetti—a moment of pure celebration.
The winding streets of Adlestrop, with their nostalgic Cotswold charm, made for the perfect backdrop as the couple strolled hand in hand, soaking in the beauty of the day. We then moved to the grounds of the Manor House for some portraits. The Cotswold stone, lavender hedges, and stretches of lush grass offered stunning views that perfectly complemented Lucy and Ben’s relaxed yet elegant style.
A Reception to Remember
The reception took place in a marquee on the grounds of Adlestrop and Daylesford Cricket Club. The marquee was beautifully decorated with trestle tables lined with summer flowers arranged in colorful glass vases. The rain came and went throughout the day, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. Guests eagerly hopped out of the marquee whenever the weather cleared, making the most of this outdoor celebration.
The speeches were a highlight, filled with love, humor, and heartfelt stories from Lucy and Ben’s childhoods that made everyone fall in love with them even more. It was clear that what brought them together was not just their shared love of adventure but also their deep-rooted family values and close bonds with those they cherish most.
After cutting the cake with Ben’s sword—a fun and fitting nod to the day’s guard of honor—the couple kicked off the first dance with energy and laughter. This set the tone for what would become the fullest dance floor of the season, with guests joining in the fun and keeping the party going well into the night.
Food, Fun, and Festivities
No one went hungry at this wedding! Ross and Ross served a three-course meal with outstanding presentation and flavors that wowed everyone—I'm admittedly biased, as they were my wedding caterers too, but they are truly one of the Cotswolds' favorites when it comes to food. The Cotswold Ice Cream Co. and The Pizza Post kept guests fueled with delicious treats, while tequila and Ben’s personalized beer cups ensured everyone stayed in high spirits. As the sun began to set and the rain finally disappeared for good, we took the opportunity to capture some relaxed group photos. By this time, Lucy and Ben were completely at ease, having enjoyed a few drinks and the company of their loved ones. The resulting photos were some of my favorites—full of genuine laughter and love.
A Dream Team of Suppliers
This beautiful day wouldn’t have been possible without an incredible team of suppliers. From the stunning dress by Savannah Miller Bridal, sourced at The White Room Boutique, to Ben’s sharp suit by Favourbrook, every detail was thoughtfully chosen. The marquee from Original Marquees provided the perfect setting, while the catering by Ross & Ross Events delighted everyone’s taste buds. The evening’s food was a hit, with The Pizza Post and Cotswold Ice Cream Co. offering delicious options to keep everyone satisfied. The Drunken Jockeys kept the drinks flowing, and Sounds Impressive had the music covered, ensuring the dance floor stayed packed all night long.
Lucy and Ben’s wedding was truly one to remember—an event full of love, laughter, and the kind of moments that make you believe in the magic of weddings. I’m so grateful to have been a part of their special day and to have captured memories that will last a lifetime.
